Listen! I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you, and you with me
Revelation 3:20
Admitting Weakness and Seeking Forgiveness
The first step in Christian healing is admitting one’s sins and weaknesses before God. This act of humility opens the door to divine help (1 John 1:9). For a gambler, this means acknowledging the addiction and its consequences.
Renewing The Mind
The Bible emphasises the renewal of the mind (Romans 12:2) as a key to transformation. This involves replacing the urge to gamble with positive, godly thoughts and activities, such as prayer, meditation on Scripture, and engaging in wholesome activities.
Practicing Stewardship and Contentment
Biblical stewardship involves managing one’s resources wisely, which is antithetical to gambling (Luke 16:11). Learning contentment in all circumstances (Philippians 4:11-13) can help reduce the desire to seek fulfillment in gambling.
Fostering Accountability and Community
Christianity is deeply communal. Engaging with a supportive faith community and being accountable to others (James 5:16) can provide strength and encouragement in the journey to recovery
Joining a Local Church
Engaging in service redirects focus from self to others, fostering a sense of purpose and fulfillment that gambling falsely promises.
Helping Others
Helping other people with addictions get free of them and become part of the Body of Christ
The Bible talks about the Great Commission and spreading the Gospel to everyone. This is your opportunity to serve Christ
